Dracaena Lemon Lime Care in Dubai: A Guide to Striped Foliage

Dracaena Lemon Lime - Plantbox product image

Dracaena Lemon Lime is Plantbox’s indoor foliage plant with upright green leaves and bright yellow-green variegation. Despite its name, it is not a citrus tree. It belongs to the woody dracaena group and differs in leaf colour from the white-striped Warneckii.

Find a bright spot without harsh sun

Bright, indirect light is a good starting point. Protect the leaves from intense direct summer sunshine, using a sheer curtain where necessary. For a Dubai interior, check the actual sun falling on the leaves rather than relying only on a window’s compass direction.

Check below the surface before watering

The RHS recommends waiting until the upper approximately 5 cm of growing mix feels dry. Then water and allow the surplus to drain. Never leave the nursery pot standing in collected water inside a decorative cover. Use room-temperature water. A reminder is useful for checking the pot, but does not mean it needs watering every time.

Keep the nursery pot until repotting is needed

A newly bought plant does not automatically need a larger container. Once roots become overcrowded, move it to a slightly larger pot with a loose, free-draining mix. Avoid an oversized container that retains wet compost for too long.

Set realistic expectations for growth

Dracaenas generally grow slowly and hold their foliage for long periods. Warm indoor conditions suit them. Position the plant where there is room for the leaves and stem, and do not expect rapid changes immediately after delivery. Photographing the plant occasionally can help you compare new growth without repeatedly moving it.

Protect the striped foliage

Keep temperatures steady and avoid cold drafts, including direct air-conditioning airflow. Dracaenas can be sensitive to fluoride in water. If tips brown, review water quality alongside watering conditions; do not assume local tap water is the cause without evidence. Keep this ornamental plant away from pets that may chew it.

Choose your Plantbox plant

Plants are delivered in standard nursery pots; decorative pots pictured are not included. Natural size, shape and fullness vary, so the photograph is not a promise of identical growth.
