Ficus Benjamina, or weeping fig, brings glossy leaves and arching branches to bright indoor rooms. Stable conditions are especially helpful when settling it into a Dubai home.
Light and placement
Choose bright indirect light with room for the canopy. Avoid abrupt moves between a dark corner and strong sunlight. Keep the pot away from direct air-conditioning drafts and hot glass.
Watering
Let the upper potting mix dry before watering thoroughly. Drain excess water from the outer pot. Check moisture below the surface; leaf drop alone is not proof that the tree needs another drink.
Soil and routine care
Use a draining houseplant mix and a container with drainage holes. Feed during active growth at the label rate. Wipe dusty leaves gently and rotate the pot occasionally if growth leans towards the light.
Leaf drop and pruning
Changes in light, drafts and either too much or too little water can cause leaf drop. Check those conditions before adding fertiliser. Remove dead twigs with clean tools and use modest shaping cuts rather than stripping the canopy.
